Over 50% of the world's population now lives in an urban setting. In less than 25 years, over 5 billion people will live in cities; yet these remain some of the least reached areas of the world.
Our focus is urban because millions of people are living in cities without hope, without purpose, and without a vision for their destiny. |
Our Cities Need You!
|
Budapest, a vibrant, historic city where east meats west and old merges with new. It's a city of bridges and beauty, arts and culture; but a city with a great need for the gospel of Jesus Christ. At YWAM Budapest, our DTS seeks to engage students in real ministry throughout the school. With the city as our classroom, we'll help you to discover your gifts, challenge you to use them, and train you for a life of advancing God's Kingdom. |
DTS is a life changing adventure with God that helps you to discover your destiny...
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a 5-month month missions training course aimed at helping the student discover a greater depth in his/her relationship with God and to equip them as messengers of the gospel. This course is relevant for those desiring to serve in full-time ministry as well as for those who plan to work in a secular environment. The DTS is designed to encourage students to develop in personal character, to cultivate a deeper and closer relationship with God, and to help them identify their unique, God-given giftings and callings. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to reach current and future generations as they answer the call to "Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations" Matthew 28.

Phase I. (Lecture Phase)
11 weeks You will join with students from all over the world in a classroom setting for 3 months. Each week focuses on a different aspect of God, our relationship to God, and how God uses you to make a difference. Topics include: Nature and Character of God, Relationships, Spiritual warfare, Hearing God's voice, How to study the Bible, Sharing the message of God's Kingdom, Identity in Christ, and Cross Cultural Missions. You will all live together in community and share the tasks of cooking and cleaning. Each week you have the opportunity to "touch the city" and participate in an ongoing YWAM Budapest ministry. These include working with: the Rézkígyó Coffee House, English conversation club, reaching out to the homeless, street outreach (dramas, dances, music, testimony), and prayer walking. |
Phase II. (Outreach)
10 weeks The second half of the school (approximately 3 months) is the Outreach Phase, where you get a chance to apply what you've learned. Previous Outreach locations have included:
You will be helping a long-term work in another country (a church or other mission base) doing evangelism, practical work, teaching, praying, etc. |
Phase III. (Debriefing)
1 week After completing the outreach you will return to Budapest for a time of debriefing. This is a chance to report back, reflect on your entire DTS experience, and prepare to return back home. After completing your DTS you will then be eligible to apply as a full-time staff member of Youth With A Mission at any YWAM base world wide. Some DTS graduates go on to complete secondary level YWAM courses while others return to their home country to serve in ministry, attend university, or influence their world for Christ in a secular work environment. |
