The SBS is an exciting journey through all the books of the Bible! The first four months we study the New Testament and then five months the Old Testament. At the end of this time you will have a great understanding of the whole story line of the Bible as well as of the content, historical setting and meaning of every book. This will allow you to gain a deeper insight in who God is and what His plan for mankind entails. This sure forms a solid and strong foundation for a life of service in the church, missions and society.
Inductive Study Method
The SBS is built on the inductive study method. Based on thorough observation of the text, the inductive method seeks to let the Bible speak for itself. We try to be listeners of Scripture. Therefore we don’t start with books and teaching about the Bible, but with the Bible itself. Throughout the nine months we will study the whole Bible, book by book.
In order to do this we consistently use the following three steps:
Observation: What does the text say?
Interpretation: What did the text mean to the first readers?
Application: What does the text mean for me/ us today?
The emphasis of the school is on self-study of the Word of God. During the nine month process of study you will read each book of the Bible at least five times. For every book you produce written reports which will be checked by SBS staff. This will help you to interpret as good as possible and to improve your study skills. For every book you’ll meet with your personal tutor in order to discuss the major theme of the book and its structure.
In the lectures you will receive teaching on additional information on books to help you with your studies. We will manly focus on background information and on difficult passages.
The SBS tconsists of three quarters of twelve weeks each. In between the quarters there are one- to two-week breaks.
The first quarter of the SBS begins with an introduction to the method of inductive Bible study in the form of an intensive, three-week seminar. In the remainder of the first quarter, we study most of the books in the New Testament.
In the second quarter, we study the rest of the New Testament, and then start the Old Testament with Genesis through Kings.
The third quarter includes the remaining books of the Old Testament. The set-up of the school is not according to themes or topics, but is based on a book-by-book study of the entire Bible.
Living and Learning Together
Ministry
Our school is part of YWAM Budapest which has been present in Budapest for more than twenty years. Our base has several vivid ministries into this exciting gateway city between East and West. As a school we will be involved in different ministries e.g. street outreach, homeless ministry and coffee house. This gives us a wonderful opportunity to pass on God’s treasures and amazing hope which we find in the Bible.
The SBS is a full-time school and you will live, work and study in our training facility in Budapest. God is teaching us in the classroom during the lectures. And he is teaching us as well in the midst of our everyday life, during our work and in our relationships. We have times together in intercession, worship, practical work, meals, feasts and discussions. We consider all of these important aspects of Christian life and training.

SBS Testimonials
Linda H., FR "I thought that the Bible was boring and I never read it before I came here. I had been a Christian for a long time and I was ashamed that I knew so little. I really desired to know what is in the Bible and to get my own foundation on the Word of God. Now, 9 months later, I have reached my goal and learned how to always be a Bible student. This is a great school."
Yussuf M., Nigeria "The more I study the Word the more real I desire to become with my relationship with God and people."
David S., USA "The SBS is perfect for anyone who has been involved in ministry for a short or long period of time, because your passion for God and the Word will be renewed. Your calling will be sharpened in such a way that you will be better equipped to reach the world with the Gospel!"
Rebecca S., USA "SBS opened my eyes to the message of the whole Bible. I read the New Testament many times, but missed out on the full message of the Old Testament. I have a heart of worship and a greater desire to go and share this message."
Leocadia K., Singapore "The way I read the Bible will indeed never be the same again!"
Zachary F., USA "SBS is a great foundation for any occupation in life. You get a complete Bible overview in its original context which is uncommon even in most seminaries. I'd recommend this school to Christians no matter where they are in their spiritual walk."
